In partnership with the Haitian Health Foundation (HHF) of Norwich, Conn., Holy Family Parish is involved in the organization's "Happy House" program raising money to construct homes for needy families and individuals in Haiti. Through free-will donations, mostly from the youth of the parish, Holy Family Parish has funded construction of several homes. Each home costs approximately $1,200 to build. In 2015-16, due to generosity of many including Holy Family parishioners, nearly 250 Happy Houses were completed in many villages in the mountains of Jeremie, Haiti. The people living in these houses are benefiting as a result of these new homes by preventing house-related health risks such as respiratory diseases from indoor air pollution, exposure to the elements, and other diseases, including the Zika virus, that spread because of poor living conditions.
